I am dedicated Irish musician, in the style that filtered in through the interests of my teacher, David Surette, and the community he fostered. My best instrument is the mandolin, but I play a lot of guitar and piano, and as of 2024, a LOT of concertina, as well as trying out various other instruments. I love a good session.
I also very much enjoy Scottish, French-Canadian, and old-time tunes, and don't mind a bit of bluegrass.
I write a lot of tunes, a few of which find some success through my sister, Madeleine Stewart, an excellent fiddler. I will be writing out and recording some sample tunes for convenience here.
I am also currently (May 2025) in the process of going through the Pigot and Forde Collections from the Irish Traditional Music Archive and finding new favorites - I'm planning on recording and re-transcribing those I like best and sending them out to an email list, so if you are interested, please leave a comment, and we can get in touch. Here's a quick sample - higher quality recordings starting in July.
