Again before you is the first statue - a large frog, binocularly fixated on you, any visitor. It is unpainted, and seems to be made of a gigantic piece of quartzolite, which includes the plinth on which it stands, elevating its feet to your shoulders' height. There is mottled red and white all around in the stone, but the eyes are both pure white, indicating to you that the sculptor took some care to find the right place to start carving.
It takes you a moment, but you remember to listen.
The path bends both ways around the imposing beast. To your sides are large, dark green, impenetrable and immaculately trimmed hedges, stretching up further than normal for such things. A small nave is formed around the statue, allowing movement, but limiting vision.
One choice remains: left or right?
Or you could always stay right here and observe the frog a little longer. It wouldn't hurt to rest a bit - your feet are bare and sore.
